Mind the Change Inc. is a non-for- profit association committed to providing high quality arts based self-development workshops, involving people living with dementia and their primary support network. Mind the Change Inc. encourages everyone to take a look into the arena of performance art allowing people an opportunity for sensory engagement, positive interaction and to overcome isolation. Utilising drama techniques in conjunction with laughter therapy we aim to support the well-being of those living with memory loss, making accessible an array of creative tools for people working with, caring for and living with dementia. Being the only association in Perth that delivers this style of service we, strive to develop new, and enhance existing, networks within the current community of people living with this condition.

Meet Our Creative Team

Althea Gordon

Artistic Director

Althea, the Creator and Artistic Director of Mind the Change Inc, has a personal connection to the cause as her mother lived with Dementia for 20 years. With a background in dance and drama, Althea pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts at WAAPA and later worked in arts health, expanding her vision of performance and play in different contexts. Althea has worked with several non-profit organizations and local government authorities in Western Australia, focusing on community development and older adults. She has also studied Aged Care and Arts and Dementia Care at UTAS and developed FUN workshops for those living with dementia and their support networks.

Our creative sessions give you the confidence to be creatively brave, we provide highly skilled Creative Arts Facilitators, that are passionate about bringing creativity into each and every session.

Hayley Bahr

Hayley Bahr graduated from Edith Cowan University with a Bachelor of Contemporary Art. Hayley’s multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, printmaking, drawing, installation, and performance. She has been recognised with several prestigious awards.

Lily

Lily is an independent theatre artist whose visual works beautifully tell stories in accessible and engaging ways. Her practice centers around creating community-engaged art, using mediums like puppetry, performance, shadow puppetry, illustrations, and text. 

Kathryn Smith

Kathryn is studying for a Diploma in Creative Arts and Health. She has been teaching embroidery and textiles for more than 20 years. She has a Teacher’s Certificate in Embroidery from the Embroiderers’ Guild of WA, and Specialisation Certificate in Smocking. She worked in the costume industry for more than 15 years.
